The Order

This website is intended to give The Order a general ideal of the structure and overall mission of the unit. This website should be used to answer any questions that member and non-members have about The Order. This site will address all the rules surrounding The Order and the way it operates, including ranking system, ranking purpose, and recruitment. Descriptions will change over time, but at this time this site holds the up to date version of the rules.

All of the rules in place for The Order are intended to increase unit functionality and give purpose and incentive to members to continue to develop their marital and non-martial Belegarth related skills. If you are reading this you have shown an interest in the unit and wish to pursue official membership.

If you are looking to join a unit that is focused on only winning, then The Order may not be for you. Many other units exist that focus greatly on being a very effective and devastating fighting force. The Order is simply here to have fun and fight well. Winning comes with fighting well, and fighting well takes time. The Order prides itself on training fighters and teaching them what it takes to survive.

These rules are not all inclusive, and they may be changed and updated. We cannot think of every scenario to address. If a problem arises the issue will be dealt with quickly and as fairly as possible.

Mission

As previously mentioned The Order is focused on taking fighters and training them to survive at a national event. Belegarth/Dagorhir is not incredibly dangerous, and when referring to “survival” this means that fighters do not get outmatched to the point where they must resort to dangerous tactics to accomplish their goal, whatever the goal may be. The Order has a proven track record that shows that past members have excelled to great heights within the Belegarth/Dagorhir culture. Five former members have undertaken the path to Knighthood.  One current member is a squire, two are retainers.  These fighters have credited The Order contributing to getting them to that point.

The Order also prides itself on making the unconventional, conventional. From tactics to equipment, and recruiting to ranking, The Order attempts to break the mold of other national units. Many other unit structures are incredibly effective at brining about their goals.  The Order at this time remains a small unit until sufficient higher ranking members become available. This creates a focus on small unit tactics as well as a “Quality over Quantity” focus.

The Order excels at small unit tactics from the perspective of being able to fight a larger group with minimal casualties.  Fighting well is one of the best ways to have fun on the field. It allows members to focus on tactics and decreases feelings of panic in battle. The fun follows after, when members develop a sense of accomplishment in having done well during the course of a battle.

A good attitude is important to completing the ultimate goals: Fighting well on the national field and having fun while doing it. Every member of the Order should realize the Belegarth/Dagorhir is a very competitive game, and everyone succumbs to their competitive edge. The Order does not want its members to focus on winning a battle. Members should keep a healthy outlook on victory. As mentioned before, members of The Order are worth more individually to the unit than compared to another unit of great size and strength. Adequate rankings are a necessity, but also function as a way to increase the skill of individual fighters on their journey through Belegarth/Dagorhir.
